Racketeers Running Your Business

Would you let a racketeer tell you
how to run your business?

If you sell cigarettes the answer is YES!

In 2006 a Federal Judge ruled that the tobacco companies had violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (commonly referred to as RICO Act or RICO) because of the way they market tobacco products. These same racketeers are still dictating the terms for how tobacco products are displayed, advertised and marketed in stores today. Responsible tobacco marketing requires more than refusing to sell tobacco products to minors.

Our plea to retailers

  1. No special price promotions
  2. Remove all tobacco brand advertising
  3. Keep tobacco displays out of view of customers
  4. Place material in your store telling people where they can get help to stop using tobacco
